DESCRIPTION:Electric Giz draws in audiences with accessible grooves and contemporary sonic elements. \nTheir original music combines improvisation\, sound design and catchy hooks in an immersive journey through genres. Seemingly simple compositions provide a foundation for the band to share their joy in spontaneous creation. They performed at the 2024 Five Points Jazz Festival and have sold out Dazzle multiple times. As an artist in residence at Dazzle in 2025 they featured special guest Randy Brecker as part of KUVO’s 40th anniversary celebration. \nElectric Giz is the brainchild of Greg Gisbert and Mickey Lenny\, born out of their collaboration with Maria Schneider on her Grammy winning 2020 album Data Lords.​ \nTrumpeter Greg Gisbert’s eclectic career is in its 5th decade. He has recorded and toured with Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett\, Frank Sinatra\, Horace Silver\, Frank Wess\, Jimmy Heath\, Buddy Rich\, Clark Terry\, Sarah Vaughn\, Mel Torme\, Jazz At Lincoln Center\, Wynton Marsalis\, Maria Schneider\, Dizzy Gillespie All Stars w/ John Lee\, Toshiko Akiyoshi\, Chie Imaizumi and many more. Gisbert has taught extensively at the University level including at Juilliard\, Manhattan School of Music and University of Miami. \nFrom 1989-2015 Greg was highly in demand on Broadway and in the NYC studio scene. He moved home to Denver in 2015 and performs regularly around the country. He is a core faculty member of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts and teaches in the Trumpet Studio at University of Colorado\, Boulder. \nMickey Lenny is a multi-instrumentalist\, teacher\, producer and composer based in Denver. Michael performs on the cornet\, keyboards\, and the EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument)\, playing a diverse range of genres; from jazz to classical\, psychedelic rock to modern dance music. He has a degree in Jazz & Commercial Music from the University of Miami\, studying with Brian Lynch and John Daversa. \nMickey is a member of Jammy Buffet and performs all over the country. He has performed with Randy Brecker\, Benny Golson\, Peter Mayer\, Emmet Cohen\, Michael Piolet\, and arranged/performed with Clay Street Unit\, Evanoff\, Emma Mayes & The Hip\, and Tenth Mountain Division. Michael was a long-time member of the Boulder-based band Amoramora\, playing festivals around the country and selling out the Fox Theatre in Boulder.
